Wootton Church

Wootton Church - About us:

St George’s offers a Church of England community for Wootton.  We welcome whoever wishes to join us, of all faiths and none, to any of our activities.  These include: regular worship on Sundays and during the week; our pre-school Little Stars service; choosing and singing hymns at Songs of Praise; teenage Wombles; working with members of local groups and societies; a midweek café; an annual opportunity for teddy bears to descend from the tower on a zip wire; marking significant occasions in life and so much more.  In all of this we share the purpose of the Christian church: to grow as a community of people who follow Jesus.

The church was built on to an existing watchtower in the 12th century and over the years there have been additions and alterations (link to history of the church).  We finally installed a toilet and running water in November 2017.  The bells are maintained by an enthusiastic group of bell ringers and you will hear them on most Sundays and for many church occasions.  The war memorial in the churchyard is the focus for an act of remembrance every year on Remembrance Sunday.

We are part of the Diocese of Peterborough and have effective links with neighbouring Anglican churches in the Greater Northampton deanery (group of Anglican churches) as well as local community and other groups.

While the building is ancient, we seek to accommodate people of all abilities.  If you have mobility, hearing or visual impairments or other special needs please let us know so that you can engage as fully as possible.

If you would like any further information please contact Lakshmi on 01604 962061.  We look forward to seeing you.
